MEXICO — The RAAPA Chorus will begin rehearsals for the annual Christmas Show from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Mountain Valley Middle School. New members are always welcomed.
Although there is no audition, previous chorus experience is helpful as the music is challenging. Anyone interested in joining should call Mary Pulsifer at 562-7050 prior to Aug. 17 in order to reserve a folder of music. Since a recording of all music is available, participants should bring a blank CD or rewound audio cassette to the first rehearsal or leave one at Larsen’s Electric in Mexico no later than Aug. 24.
Some of the music to be performed will be: Holly Jolly Christmas (women), The Christmas Song, Jingle Bells, Toyland, 1st Noel and the annual favorite, Christmas in a Small Town.
The chorus is directed by Judith Kuhn and accompanied by Gail Dorr. This will be the 33rd anniversary of the Christmas Show which was started in 1976 with only two years without a performance.
The sets will be designed by Wayne Landry and constructed with help from Arthur Boivin and the chorus members. Connie Venskus will be in charge of costumes and president Anita Murphy is the production manager. Michelle Larsen will manage the stage and Steve Borstelmann and Sara Perry will head the publicity committee.
Anyone who would like to be involved in the production but prefers not to sing may contact Mary Pulsifer. There is always a need for help with costumes, decorations and set construction, painting, etc.
The RAAPA Christmas Show, “A Musical Christmas Card,” will be held on Dec. 3 and 4 in Muskie Auditorium at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford.
