- A Farmington Public Works crew discovered a 20-foot deep, 3-foot round, brick-lined well when they began digging Monday on Pleasant Street behind Meeting House Park, foreman Jim Kiernan said. It was underneath the granite curbing, he said. There was no water in it. The crew also discovered some granite, laid flat across the road like a walkway, leading to the other side. Town Manager Richard Davis said the well was an “amazing piece of workmanship, very straight and built without mortar.” The well was covered in dirt as the crew continued work on widening the road.
