LEWISTON — A 19-year-old pedestrian was injured by a car on Lisbon Street at about 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

The man, whose name was not available Tuesday, sat on a bench on the corner of Lisbon and Main streets, grimacing in pain as paramedics examined him and put his arm in a sling of white cloth. With the help of emergency responders, he walked to an ambulance, which took him to St. Mary’s Regional Hospital for treatment.

It appeared that the victim had walked into the vehicle as it was moving through the intersection, Lewiston Police Sgt. Scot Bradeen said.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and asked if the victim was injured, said another young man on the scene, who did not witness the accident but spoke with the victim immediately afterward.

The victim apparently told the driver he was not hurt, so the driver left the scene. The victim then realized that he was injured and the ambulance was called.

Police were still investigating the incident late Tuesday night.
