LISBON FALLS — On Aug. 10, the Lisbon Historical Society hosted guest speaker, Charles W. Plummer, of Auburn. Plummer, in the persona of Samuel Read Hall, provided his audience with a sense of what it was like to be a school teacher in the early 19th Century.

The event was held at the one-room, restored, Ridge School in Lisbon Falls. Following the presentation, Dorothy Smith, Lisbon Historical Society secretary/archivist, invited Plummer and members of the audience to tell stories of their own early school experiences. These stories included memories of the teachers who had been an inspiration to them.

On Sept. 14, the Society will host guest speaker Richard Nadeau, a Lisbon Falls native, who will give a presentation on “The History of the Slovak Association.”

The Lisbon Historical Society is located at the MTM Center, 18 School St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; events start at 7 p.m. There is no fee to attend.
