Work on the tar macadam paving on Main Street, Lewiston, the accepted State Road, was completed for this season on Tuesday. The appropriation provided for the laying of the paving to Mountain Avenue from Frye Street and possibly farther.
Each season a stretch of this road is laid toward the fairground and farmers, and patrons of the fair, as well as the general public, are looking forward to the time when the entire road is paved.

An old Auburn business, the Towle and Scott grocery at Court and Granite streets, has been sold and the new owner, Roger Madore of Webber Ave., Lewiston, will take possession this morning.
The sale was completed yesterday. Madore is taking over the business, stock and fixtures, and will lease the relatively new store property from Mr. and Mrs. Forrest L. Towle. Towle said Madore has taken a long term lease on the real estate.

A Lewiston man recovered $199 cash he thought he’d lost Friday afternoon, thanks to the honesty of the teenager who found it.
Michael Moran was with his young grandson near Laverdiere’s when the boy “started fussing” and knocked the credit union bag out of Moran’s hands. When Moran noticed the loss a few minutes later, he returned but the bag was gone.
The money was found by Kevin Dube, 13, of Lisbon St., who took it home and told his mother, Anna, who notified Lewiston police.
The police identified Moran from his passbook and brought Dube to his home where the money was returned.
