LEWISTON — The Stanton Bird Club’s first meeting of the new 2011-12 birding season will be on Monday, Oct. 3, at the Green Ladle, Lewiston High School Culinary Arts Center, 156 East Ave. A social hour with club displays will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. A dinner choice of baked stuffed chicken or vegetable lasagna will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. The annual meeting and monthly speaker will begin at 7 p.m.

The speaker for the evening will be Jonathan LaBonte, executive director of The Androscoggin Land Trust. Labonte will give a presentation focusing on how the many organizations with a stake in conservation (land conservation, restoration, education, community events, etc.) can work together to advance a large initiative

The presentation is free and open to the public. Dinner is $15 per person. Those interested in dinner should RSVP no later than Friday, Sept. 16. The newly-published 2012 Stanton Calendar of Natural Places will be for sale at the event. The calendar features beautiful landscapes captured by Stanton photographers Dan Marquis and Jim Walker.

The Stanton Bird Club is a conservation organization offering monthly free natural history programs and field trips throughout the state. The organization welcomes new members whose dues help to provide land stewardship at three sanctuaries, owned and managed by the club, in Lewiston and Monmouth.
