VFW membership

RUMFORD — Veterans of Foreign Wars, Robert Shand Post 1641 will have a Membership Appreciation Day/Membership Recruitment Day from noon until 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18. All VFW members and men’s auxiliary members are encouraged to attend.

There will be a pot luck during the day and a spaghetti and meatball feed prior to the post meeting at 7 p.m. All VFW annual members who pay their dues prior to Sept. 30 will also be awarding one life membership to a member who pays their dues before Nov. 1. The Men’s Auxiliary will also be awarding an annual membership for next year.

All veterans who have served overseas and received a campaign ribbon or who served in Korea for more than 30 days, are invited to come to the post with a copy of their DD 124 to see if they are eligible.

Class of 1954

MEXICO — Stephens High School Class of 1954 will hold their monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m.Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Dick’s Restaurant. Members and guests are welcomed.

Coolidge music

ANDOVER — An evening of live music with Pete Coolidge will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Andover Town Hall.

Funds will support Hungry Kingdom, a program that provides free daily breakfast and lunch for all Andover Elementary School students

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets can be sent for at Hungry Kingdom (checks can be made out to Hungry Kingdom), PO Box 155, Andover, ME 04216.

Crafts, bake sale

DIXFIELD — The American Legion Post 100 craft fair and bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. The cost is $10 to rent a table. There will also be a public supper at 5 p.m. The menu will include spaghetti with meatballs or meat sauce and garlic bread. For more information about the craft fair contact Arlene at 369-0273.
