No supper

LISBON — The Oddfellows and Rebekahs will not hold their September public supper due to work on the Oddfellows Hall building.

Dempsey benefit

AUBURN — A yard sale and fun day will be held Sunday, Sept. 18, in the Applebees parking lot. All proceeds will go to the Dempsey Challenge.

There will be yard sale items, pie in the face, face painting and more. Hosted by Sarah Veilleux and Jen Boucher.

WINTHROP — A Degree Day sponsored by Androscoggin Pomona Grange will be held Sunday, Sept. 18, at Winthrop Grange, beginning at 4 p.m. The first and second degrees will be worked, after which a light supper for a small fee will be served, followed by the third and fourth degrees. Any grange with candidates are invited to bring them to this session. For more information, call Maine State Deputy William Hatch at 933-2867.

Boiler course

AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services department at Central Maine Community College will offer a high pressure boiler operator course on Mondays, Sept. 26 through Dec. 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost is $450 and includes all materials and books.

The course provides participants with the knowledge and techniques to operate a steam generating plant in a safe and efficient manner. The course offers a practical approach to power plant operation and is designed to prepare the student for the state of Maine High Pressure Boiler Operator licensing exam.
