LEWISTON — Up-and-coming artist Zach Jones, who plays a mix of modern rock, pop and soul, will close out L/A Arts’ Friday ArtWalk performances on Sept. 30 in Dufresne Plaza.

Jones combines the raw energy and style of 1960s British pop with the soulful expression of the American R&B that poured from Motown and Stax.

While he pays tribute to the music he loves, he also expands beyond tradition in sound and arrangement.

Jones established himself as a fiery musician and energetic performer while touring the United States as lead guitarist and back-up vocalist for the pop/rock band As Fast As. With his band mates, Jones played at such venues as New York’s Irving Plaza, Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium and San Francisco’s Warfield Theater, opening shows for Maroon 5, OAR, Butch Walker, INXS, Gavin DeGraw and John Fogarty.

Jones demonstrates his songwriting skills on “Fading Flowers,” his first CD as a solo artist.

His follow-up album, “Broken Record,” continues to showcase his musical diversity and his exploration of themes such as personal growth, past reflection and uncertainty about the future.

The 6 p.m. concert at the plaza, adjacent to 84 Lisbon St., is free.

If it rains, it will be moved to Downstage at L/A Arts, 221 Lisbon St. For more information, call 782-7228.
