POLAND SPRING — The first “Fire & Slice” Golf Tournament, dinner and dance will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Poland Spring Resort. All money raised at the event will benefit Poland Fire Rescue, a department made up of 30 men and women who provide fire and emergency medical response to the town of Poland.

The department has teamed up with Poland Spring Water Company and the Poland Spring Resort to help raise money for life safety equipment and ease the burden on taxpayers during hard financial times. Poland Fire Rescue’s fundraising goal for this year is $27,000.

Registration for the 18-hole Golf Scramble will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 29. At noon there will be a shotgun tee-off and tournament play. Cocktail hour will be at 5 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 6. The “Bogey Boogie” dance featuring Broad Street Band will begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets that include the golf tournament, dinner, dance and live entertainment are $75 per person or $20 per person for dinner, dance and entertainment. Tickets are available for purchase at Cyndi’s Dockside Restaurant on Route 26 and at the Poland Fire Rescue Department, 1231 Maine St.
