NORWAY — “Metal Detecting: Relics and Discoveries” will be the topic of the talk at the Norway Historical Society at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.
Eric White, Dennis Bowden and Greg Sherwood will present a program detailing what they have found on their various metal detecting expeditions. Some of the finds include items dating back to the Maine Militia, Civil War as well as old coins. The program will include information about metal detecting equipment; searching techniques; research and myth vs. reality.
The presentation will be followed by a hands-on metal detecting field trip. In case of rain, only the metal detecting field trip will be rescheduled.
Members, friends and the public are invited. As always, admission is free. Light refreshments will be served.
Monthly programs are held from May to October at the society’s museum, 471 Main St. For more information, contact the Norway Historical Society at 743-7377.
