PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Portland police are trying to determine the identity of human remains found in woods off St. John Street in the Maine city.
Police say human bones were discovered early Wednesday on a path between an apartment building and railroad tracks.
The state medical examiner was called in to examine the remains to try to determine the cause and manner of death.
Police Lt. Gary Rogers tells the Portland Press Herald that the bones appear to have been there for a few weeks. He says the death does not appear to be suspicious.
