DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Historical Society hosted the Al Larsen Festival of Flowers at the Open Market Day with a beautiful variety of cut and wild flower arrangements. Hydrangeas, phlox, pansies, golden glow, nicotina, cattails, lilies, coreopsis, wild berries and Queen Anne’s lace were just some of the beautiful flowers on display. Terry Holman won Best in Show for his beautiful and exceptionally large blue hydrangea displayed as a single stem. Becky Collins won the People’s Choice Award with her simple country arrangement of wild grasses and purple cone flowers in a raffia bow.

Additional winners included the following.

Bouquet cut flowers: first place, Charlotte Collins; second, Sally Carey (also honorable mention to first place); third, Donna Richard; honorable mention, Becky Collins.

Bouquet of wild flowers: first, Deb Towle; second, Charlotte Collins; third, Sally Carey; honorable mention, Becky Collins (also People’s Choice).

Single flower or stem: first, Terry Holman (also Best in Show); second, Sally Carey; third, Luc Morin.

Miniature bouquet: first, Sally Carey; second, Charlotte Collins.

House plant: first, Sally Carey.
