WEST PARIS – The West Paris Universalist Church has announced October worship services, presented by guest speakers. All are welcome to attend services, which take place at 9 a.m. every Sunday until mid-June.

Oct. 2: Guest speaker, The Rev. Karen Brammer, “Prepare for the Unseen Guests.” Brammer is part of the staff of the Northern New England District of the Unitarian Universalist Association, and is a Smaller Congregation and Justice Specialist.

Oct. 9: Guest speaker, Bernice Martin will speak on Hosea Ballou, father of Universalism. Minister and writer Ballou (1771-1852) was instrumental in the development of Universalist theology in America. Martin is studying to be a minister at the Bangor Theological Seminary, Portland.

Oct. 16: Guest speaker, Rodney Abbott, “What Is Your Relationship with God?” Abbott is a retired high school history teacher and has been teaching history at the University of Maine Augusta for the past 10 years, and resides in West Paris.

Oct. 23: Guest speaker, The Rev. Sarah Shepley will discuss “What We Reach for May Be Different, But What Makes Us Reach Is the Same.” Shepley is a newly ordained interfaith minister in Maine’s western hills. She is also a graduate of the Portland School of Art and has been a professional artist in mixed media for more than 20 years.

Oct. 30: Guest speaker, The Rev. Robert Sallies, “Act Like Adults…,” we are responsible for the way we face and act in life. A former manager and owner of the Advertiser Democrat, Sallies entered the Andover Newton Theological School in 1961, and received his Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1964. He also served as the minister at the Universalist Church in Westbrook.
