FARMINGTON — Members of the Gold LEAF Institute Senior College will travel to Skye Theater in Carthage on Wednesday, Oct. 5, to see Emily Smith, one of the leading singers of the contemporary Scottish folk scene.
Gold LEAF gives members aged 50 and older the opportunity to attend such events with others; carpooling makes driving much easier.
Those interested in joining Gold LEAF for this concert should call right away, as seating is limited. Membership to Gold LEAF is $30 a year; classes and trips range from free to $12.50, making this senior college one of the least expensive in the state. The trip to Skye is free to members to join in the carpool to Carthage; tickets at the door will be $15, payable to Skye Theater.
To view other offerings, see the website at www.goldleaf.wikispaces.com or call the Gold LEAF office at 778-7063 to have a course booklet mailed. The fall/winter schedule begins soon, with a kick-off event on Oct. 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the UMF Student Center North Dining Hall. All are welcome.
