WILTON — Wilton’s Tyngtown Club sponsored a golf tournament and picnic lunch on Aug. 27 at Wilton Lake Country Club. Ten foursomes teed off at 8 a.m. for the second annual Tyngtown Tee Time.

This year each hole was dedicated to a past member with memorials sponsored by family members, friends and businesses. Those honored were Betty Mitchell, Gail Saviello, Betty Karkos, Margaret Howard, Ai Dodge, Jane Edwards, Ruth Alice Dexter, Jeannine Varuolo, Maxine Ryan and Dorothy Oglivie. Baskets of mums were at each tee box in their memories.

Prizes were awarded for the following: Best gross score: Tom Weigle, Luke Weigle, Heather Weigle and Bob Lieb; best net score: John Blyeley, Jean Blyeley, Drew Dingley and Nancy Pratt; longest drive on No. 4: ladies, Nancy Pratt, men, Jake Farrington; closest to the pin on No. 7: Ken Dubay.

Raffles and a putting contest were ongoing during the breakfast and tournament play. A picnic lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, salads and desserts were prepared by the ladies under the leadership of Tricia Flint and Cindy Lieb. Golfers and picnickers enjoyed the lively music of members of the Franklin Fiddlers.

The Wilton Tyngtown Club is a nonprofit organization that provides funds for various groups and activities in Wilton. The TTT is a fundraiser for the Wilton Library, Wilton Early Childhood Center and the downtown flowers, and various scholarships.

The Tyngtown Club was organized in 1900 and has 36 active members.
