Quilt walk

FARMINGTON — Downtown Farmington  is holding a quilt walk through the month of October. Participating businesses can be noted by the fall-colored posters in front windows or doors. Quilts will be on display throughout the month.

Fly casting

FRYEBURG — Bonnie Holding, Master Maine Guide and professional fly casting instructor, will introduce the Casting for Recovery program at the Fryeburg Fair on Monday, Oct. 3, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Holding will greet breast cancer survivors and their families and friends at the Trout Unlimited booth in the Natural Resources Building.

A nationwide program for breast cancer survivors, Casting for Recovery has been in the forefront of helping women move forward in their recovery since 1996. The CFR program “combines counseling, education, medical information and fly-fishing to build a focus on wellness instead of illness and on empowerment as opposed to helplessness.”

VFW supper

HARRISON — The VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #9328 will host a public supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Harrison VFW on Waterford Road, Route 35. The menu includes homemade baked beans, coleslaw, casseroles, salads, pies and beverages.

This supper is a fundraiser for the Ladies Auxiliary. Donations appreciated.

Knights supper

JAY — A free public supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 148 Main St. The supper is in memory of Albert St. Pierre. The doors are to open at noon. The menu consists of lasagna, corn chowder, vegetables, bread, salads, cole saw, dessert, coffee and soft drinks. Supplies still needed and volunteer help would be greatly appreciated. Call 897-7108 to help.

RCAM yard sale

LEEDS — The Rural Community Action Ministry will have its “Somewhat Annual” yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the RCAM office at 81 Church Hill Road. Rain or Shine.

FARMINGTON — A representative from Thomas College in Waterville will visit Mount Blue High School at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13.
