JAY – The Jay, Livermore, Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce will hold a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at LaFleur’s Restaurant.

Kevin Pulkinen of Pratt & Sons Inc. will give an update on the Route 4 construction project.

The member in the spotlight will by Dan Lemieux, a teacher at Spruce Mountain High School North Campus in Jay. He will introduce the chamber to the Robotics Team’s Community Mentor Program.

Guest speaker will be Lance Dutson, chief executive officer of The Maine Heritage Policy Center, who will focus primarily on the Election Day registration issue. He will also discuss new initiatives Maine Heritage Policy Center will be rolling out in the next year.

Dutson is a nationally recognized authority on the intersection between new media and politics. He has been active in public policy at the state and federal level.

Dutson has served as online communications consultant for U.S. Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire. He also served as communications director for the Maine Republican Party and Maine Speaker of the House Robert Nutting.

Dutson was a key player in the growth of online media with the public policy sphere and was found of one of Maine’s earliest blogs, Maine Web Report.

He has been featured on Fox News and New England Cable News. He has lectured on new media issues and politics at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, University of Maine in Orono, and at Harvard Law School in Cambridge.
