CARTHAGE — Since meeting in 1995, guitar wizards Scott Macmillan and Brian Doyle have entertained audiences with a variety of music genres, from the Highlands to the blues.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, the duo will take the stage at 7 p.m. at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center. The two musicians will also perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at Unity College Center for the Performing Arts in Unity.
Macmillan seeks opportunities in all aspects of music-making. That love has inspired exploration into genres from rock to blues, classical to choral and Celtic to jazz, as well as modern and avant-garde.
Macmillan has played a significant role introducing audiences to Atlantic Canadian music both nationally and internationally for more than 30 years. He has played an equally pivotal role in the rise of the Rankin Family Band, Symphony Nova Scotia’s Maritime Pops programming and the Nova Scotia Mass Choir.
Doyle’s playing encompasses styles from the rock ‘n’ roll of his earliest days to the traditional music of his ancestors. He has played on many recordings and has toured nationally and internationally with Anne Murray and Chris DeBurgh and for Nova Scotia Tourism promotions with East Coast performers including Natalie MacMaster, Beolach and Lennie Gallan.
“Live Off the Floor” is the duo’s first recording.
Concert tickets are $15 at the door. Call Skye at 562-4445 or UCCPA at 948-7469. Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive. UCCPA is at 42 Depot St., Unity.
