Apple Festival
FARMINGTON — The Fairbanks School Neighborhood Association will hold their seventh annual Apple Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Fairbanks School Meeting House, 508 Fairbanks Road, Route 4.
Crafters will be on hand to demonstrate their homemade items and to sell their wares. Cider pressing will begin at 10 a.m. A luncheon will be held at 11 with comfort foods on slate. Porter Hill Farm will have produce, pumpkins and squashes for sale. Morrison Hill Orchards will have a variety of apples for sale. Beautiful mum plants will be offered by Riverside Florists.
A children’s corner will be available for children to play games, make items and to enter three contests. Other happenings at the festival will be a table with home-baked goods, popcorn and a table with apple and Halloween novelty items for sale.
The festival will benefit the Fairbanks School basement restoration.
Free flea market
TURNER — The Caring and Loving Ministry will host their debut event, an inside flea market where all items are free, from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 106 Weston Road.
There are many clothing items in very good condition. Some are new. Christmas decorations will also be offered.

College planning
JAY — Spruce Mountain High School, North Campus, will hold a college planning night at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, in the cafeteria.
A panel of admissions representatives from the University of Maine system, the Maine Community College system and a Maine private college will present information about college options, the application process and how to afford to attend college.

Music, poetry
WILTON — An afternoon of musical performances and poetry readings “For Bread and Books” will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, upstairs at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 59 High St.
Dessert and beverages will be served downstairs following the program.
Donations at the door will benefit local food pantries and a school in Haiti.
Ham dinner
NEW SHARON — Franklin Lodge #123 will hold a ham dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Masonic Lodge, Route 2. Eat in or take out.
The meal includes mashed potatoes, raisin sauce, green beans, squash, rolls, pie, tea and coffee. The cost is $8.
