AARP food drives

NORWAY — The local AARP Oxford Hills chapter has been coming up with creative ideas for food collection for local food pantries. They acquired a 14-foot boat from a resident and plan to have it stationed at the Norway Savings Bank on Main Street from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. They are calling their campaign “Load the Boat” and are going to local businesses to serve as food collectors.

They are hoping to engage some younger residents who can help move the boxes over to the boat site on the collection day. Cooper Farms is donating apples to the cause. The American Legion is serving as a food collection site every Monday, which is Bingo night.
