- Rumford American Legion Auxiliary unit 24 members Doris Martineau, left, and Tricia Thurston pack Friday evening one of 17 boxes with non-perishable foods and toiletries to mail to 17 military personnel from the area who are stationed overseas. Grants and donations helped purchase the items. “We call it our Comforts From Home Program,” Thurston said. “It’s to let them know that we’re thinking of them and to thank them for their service. We just want them to know that they’re not forgotten.”
