LEWISTON — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice will hold four-hour Visiting Volunteer training classes from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at 15 Strawberry Ave. in Lewiston and from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at 284 Main St. in downtown Wilton.
All Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Volunteers are valued members of the health care team, and are matched with patients in or near their communities. Preregistration is required for the classes. For more information, contact Volunteer Services at 777-7740 or 1-800-482-7412, ext. 1280.
The training classes will focus on volunteer opportunities that support patients receiving home care services as they recover from illness, surgery or a new medical condition.
“When I became a volunteer, I never realized what a big impact it would have on my life,” said Bob Oliver, a Visiting Volunteer with Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice. “I started to look at life through the eyes of the caregiver and patient. I then realized just how much a couple of hours of my time were worth to someone else. I love this work.”
