JAY — An Auburn woman was injured Sunday night after her sport utility vehicle was hit twice by two different vehicles on Route 4 near Maxwell Road. Police cited a New Jersey man on a charge of failing to yield the right of way, Jay police Sgt. Troy Young said Monday.

Barbara Randall, 85, of Auburn was driving south on the road at 7:09 p.m. when a car driven by Dinesh Yajnik, 60, of Guttenberg, N.J., failed to yield the right of way at the end of Maxwell Road, and turned right onto Route 4 and struck the SUV, Young said.

The SUV flipped on to its side and a car driven by Stacy Skidgell, 31, of Wilton, which was traveling north, hit the SUV again and rolled it back on to its wheels, Young said.

Randall was taken by a NorthStar Emergency Medical Services ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. She was treated and released, Young said.

The other two drivers were not injured, he said.

Yajnik told police he didn’t see Randall’s SUV, Young said. Officer Russell Adams issued Yajnik a summons for failing to yield.

Adams was assisted at the scene by officer Mike Booker, Jay firefighters and Wilton police.
