Masonic open house

MECHANIC FALLS — An Apple Festival and open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Tyrian Masonic Lodge, 474 South Main St. (Route 11). There will be no charge; donations only. Open to the public. Information will be available on Freemasonry.

Society open house

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will hold its monthly open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.

The society recently received scrapbooks of holiday and greeting cards dating from the 1920s through 1940s as well as advertising cards from area businesses. Also available for reading will be issues of the Androscoggin Post, a weekly newspaper which covered the area’s political and community news from the 1970s. The society welcomes any article of interest pertaining to Mechanic Falls.

Harvest Music Fest

WATERFORD — Musicians from Waterford and the surrounding area will gather for a Harvest Music Fest at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Wilkins Community House, to make music individually and together for a good cause.

Their donated talents will go to raise money for a newly established Good Neighbor Emergency Fund to help Waterford residents in need of emergency assistance. The fund will be administered through the Waterford Congregational Church.

Davy Sturdivant, Jeanine Loubier, Colin Holme, Brian Roche, Rex, Gary and Daniel Rounds, David Sanderson, Skipp Green, Ed Smith and other musicians will play a variety of instruments, sing folk songs, blues and country music, and lead an audience sing-along.

Refreshments will be provided by Pietree Orchard and local bakers during the intermission. No tickets are required, but a suggested donation of $10 may be made at the door.

The Wilkins Community House is located at the foot of Plummer Hill Road next to the church in Waterford Village. For more information about the concert, call Meg Wheeler at 583-2509.
