Grange meeting

Prior college credit
LEWISTON — The University of Southern Maine’s Office for Prior Learning Assessment will offer free workshops which will discuss options on how to earn college level credit for prior learning experiences.
Information sessions will take place from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College, 51 Westminster St., or from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at USM’s Portland campus in room 213 Abromson Center.
Research has shown that people with bachelor’s degrees have higher starting salaries and lower unemployment rates than those with no college degree. The purpose of these workshops is to explain how individuals may earn academic credit for knowledge gained from outside the classroom. The workshops will explain how to turn past or current work experiences into college credit, which often decreases the amount of time it takes to earn a bachelor’s degree.
