Horse shows
ANDOVER — The Ellis River Riders will hold their last weekend of horse shows for the season on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16, on Airport Road just off Route 5. Look for the big, yellow banner.
Saturday will be an “all games” show with fast and exciting competition. Horses will race against the clock to see who is the fastest in barrel racing, pole bending and more.
Sunday will be the pleasure and equitation show. English and western riders of all ages will compete in classes including jumping and western pleasure.
As always spectators are welcome and admission is free. There are bleachers for seating and picnic tables for lunch. The food booth has a complete menu, including sausage subs, fries, onion rings, burgers and hot dogs, and will serve from breakfast through late afternoon.

Neighborly Seniors
MEXICO — Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Mexico Town Hall in the Calvin P. Lyons room. The meeting will start at 11 a.m. followed by a pot luck dinner.
Sign-ups are being taken for the Christmas party on Monday, Dec. 5, at the Indian Head Resort in Lincoln, N.H.. Cost is $58 per person. The bus will leave Dixfield at 8 a.m. and Mexico at 8:10 a.m.

Pumpkin Festival
RUMFORD — The Cancer Crusaders Relay for Life River Valley Team will have a Pumpkin Festival from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at 320 Isthmus Road. The rain date will be Oct. 30.
The price of admission is $5 for children, adults are free. The cost includes face painting, games, choice of a craft, fishing for a goody bag and a costume contest with prizes given for best costume. The categories for the costume contest will be ages 0-6 and ages 7-12. There will also be a bake sale, raffles, snacks and drinks available.
For interested parents, there is an “Anything Pumpkin Bake-off.” Entries need to be dropped off by 1 p.m. and judging will be done at 1:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded. Names should be put on the bottom of each entry. For more information call Jenn at 364-2613.
Gift basket raffle
MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library is holding their fall gift basket raffle. There are 16 beautiful, themed, gift baskets for which the library is selling tickets. Tickets are available at the Circulation Desk through Tuesday, Nov. 15, when the winning tickets will be drawn for each of the baskets.
The following are the baskets being raffled off: Autumn Evening, Blueberry Delight, Chock Full-O-Chocolate, Crafty Kids, Feathered Friends (Birdfeeding), Gardening, Girl’s Guide to Baking, Handy Man, Hot Wheels, “Lakeshore Chronicles” Book Quartet, Mary Engelbreit Christmas, Movie Night, Pizza Lovers, Spiderman, Time to Create and Western Romance Book Trio.
Tickets are $1 each, $2 for three tickets or $5 for seven. Attendance at the drawing is not required to win. Contact the library at 364-3281 with any questions.
