WEST PARIS — West Paris Historical Society had a very exciting 2011. The yard, bake and hall sale was the the biggest and most profitable ever and the calender sale was very successful.

The group is excited to be eligible to make the National Historical Society membership, which will provide stately recognition and be of benefit at a later date.

At 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, the society will hold a pot luck supper. At 7 p.m. there will be a regular meeting. Following the meeting, Mary Jane Melvin will present a book written by George Melvin, on the history of New England’s famous trains, stations and towns. Mary Jane’s husband was the clerk and manager of the West Paris Train Station in the 1970s and the photographer of all the pictures in the book, which will also be on sale.
