NORWAY — The Children’s Room of the Norway Memorial Library will offer 1,2,3 Play with Me for parents or caregivers and children age 1 to 3 as part of its ongoing Family Place Library™ programming.

The program will be held from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. five Monday, Oct. 17, 24, 31 and Nov. 7 and 14.

The program emphasizes the role of parents as the first teachers of their children, facilitates early intervention for developmental issues and shares strategies for healthy child development.

Each session will include a healthy snack, time for play and an opportunity to talk with local child development professionals, including Anna Gordon, children’s services coordinator, Norway Memorial Library, parenting resources; Karen Toohey, University of Maine Cooperative Extension, nutrition; Shirli Allen-Heald, the Growing Place Preschool, play and cognitive development; Michael Davis, Child Development Services, speech and language development; and Lissa Merrill, Stephens Memorial Hospital, physical fitness and movement.
