It’s kind of like stepping in something, but in a good way.

Another week, yet another accidental road trip.

Bag Lady recently found herself in Bangor — leaves to be peeped, a friend to visit — and spent time recreationally shopping, namely attracted to these-would-be-cool-in-downtown-Lewiston-type stores.

It started with babies and beer.

I mean, it so often does.

Downtown’s Central Street Farmhouse is a beer, wine and cheese-making shop downstairs, organic baby central upstairs. I’d suggest it’s a his-and-hers paradise if I were stereotypically inclined.

OK, I am.

Several years back, Good-Buy Girl and Bag Lady went shopping for organic gifts after our pal announced her plans for a green baby. At the time, we cobbled together baby shower finds (some organic or recycled, some only semi so) from JCPenney, Kohl’s and Walmart. Had such a one-stop-shop existed then, we would have made the drive.

(That friend’s tot, by the way, is now living on organic spinach and socially conscious hand-me-downs. She’s also adorable.)

Central Street Farmhouse is smallish but decked out with several brands of cloth diapers, accessories, frilly little girl things and knit hats that, if they don’t make you melt, my condolences — I’m sorry to hear you have no heart.

* Bravado body silk nursing bras, $49

In cups A to M. Yes, M. I know. Other styles and a handful of colors to choose from.

* Agoo leggings, $10

Not having a pulse on such things, I’m surprised to see that leggings appear to be very now in the babyworld. Despite the name, they’re not so much the leggings I fondly recall from the ’80s — plush, one-tone calf-covers — as super-tall knee-highs (um, waist-highs?) with fun patterns and prints, even Halloweeny ones.

* Rumparooz cloth diaper, $23.50

Can’t decide what brand of cloth diaper you ought to be telling your daughter-in-law to use? The shop advertised a Cloth Diapering 101 workshop on Nov. 9.

* Maple Landmark heirloom rattles, $10-$12

Simple and jingly. One of the few toys in the shop.

* Charlie Banana reusable cloth swim diaper, $8.24

Summer and swimming will return! It will, right?

* Ruffled diaper covers, $16

Row upon row of little bum-adorning ruffles. Avert your eyes if you’re only contemplating offspring. These may have the potential to push you over the edge.

* Slings, wraps, carriers, various prices

Not sure of the difference, or the comfort? There’s a Baby Wearing 101 class.

Best find: Jody Lew handmade recycled things dolls, $27 and up

Over a foot tall and huggable, high on whimsy and originality without being Barbie-cute. An imaginary tea party must.

Think twice: About mixing beer and baby

There’s a floor separating the two for a reason.

Since September, Bliss has hit Oxford, Topsham and now Bangor. After next week, it’s homeward bound. And just fyi: Everything Warehouse off Lisbon Street, we’re coming for you. Everything? Well, we’ll see about that.
