Let’s not expose Lewiston’s children to explosives.

On behalf of Lewiston’s youth, my hope is that Lewiston will go with a complete ban on the sale of and use of fireworks throughout the city.

Even if only adults were allowed, by law, to buy and use fireworks; even if they were allowed to be used just a couple days a year, it would still bring those products into homes.

Children are curious; children are clever; children are creative. Let’s not create an enticing opportunity for children when the results could turn tragic.

If (more likely, “when”) children seek-find-use such fireworks, the possible outcomes could include loss of eyesight, facial injuries, loss of fingers/hands, burns, hearing loss and tinnitus . . . just to name a few.

Let’s leave the business of fireworks to the experts.
