JAY – Police seized more than a pound of marijuana Sunday, after receiving a complaint about someone knocking on doors at a Jewell Street apartment house and asking for baggies.

Darin D. Mills, 31, who was living in apartment 3 at 6 Jewell St., was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of trafficking in marijuana and violation of condition of release, Chief Larry White Sr. said Monday.

Police received a report at about 3:30 p.m. from a tenant about a woman going to tenants asking for baggies. Jay officer Russell Adams knocked on the door to the suspected apartment and the woman said her friend, Darin Mills, was in a bedroom. Adams knocked on the bedroom door and Mills answered, giving him a couple of marijuana joints and saying that was all he had, White said.

Mills gave consent for police to search and they discovered more than a pound of marijuana, White said.

“Darin admitted he had marijuana for sale,” he said.

A Livermore Falls officer assisted at the scene.

Mills was being held on $5,000 cash bail at Franklin County jail in Farmington on Monday afternoon, a corrections officer said. He has a court date of Dec. 22 in Farmington District Court.
