Costume Ball
BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Art Guild will host a Costume Ball on Friday, Oct. 28, at the old Bridgton Town Hall starting at 7 p.m. The theme is “Dancing and Dessert” and live dance music will be provided by Skylark Jazz Ensemble, with intervals of recorded rock music.
Desserts and soft drinks will be included with the price of admission. Jeff Toole, a long time exhibiting artist, and his wife, Vicki, of Lake Region Caterers will host the cash bar offering beer and wine, with all proceeds going to the guild’s Capital Campaign.
While costumes are optional, it is hoped that lots of folks will put their creative and youthful spirits to task. Tickets are available at Gallery 302 for $10 per person prior to the event, and $12 per person at the door. Prizes will be given in various categories. Gallery 302 is at 112 Main St.
Seniors meeting
LOCKE MILLS — The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Locke Mills Legion Hall. The price for dinner is $10 for members and $12 for nonmembers.

Library activities
PARIS — The Paris Public Library will host a special day of activities for children on Friday, Oct. 28. Children may stop by anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and enjoy a variety of Halloween crafts and activities, including a chemistry experiment where water is changed into “blood.”
The library’s annual Halloween party will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, where participants may also enjoy games, crafts and treats.

Duplicate bridge
OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Oct. 21 in the Rec. Building, where a 6 1/2 table Howell movement was enjoyed.
Finishing first in flight A were Rosemarie Goodwin (Lewiston) and Luke Merry (New Gloucester), second were Cathy Sanderson (Bridgton) and Pete Cummings (South Paris) who also were first in flight B. Third were Nancy Farmer (Norway) and Marta Clements (Woodstock), who also were second in flight B.
Finishing third in flight B were Jim Dickens (Naples) and Dave Kallander (Harrison).
Finishing first in flight C were Marlee Turner (Casco) and Karen MacNeill (Casco), second were Jim Krainin (Naples) and Milt McKeen Jr. (Bridgton), third were Hank Sakrison (Poland) and Denny Raymond (Waterford).

College workshops
BETHEL — Central Maine Community College’s Corporate and Community Service Department will promote their workforce education, customized training and professional development workshops at the Bethel Chamber of Commerce’s Business Expo to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Telstar High School.
CMCC will join business vendors from around the region in highlighting their products and services to the public and admission is free. The Expo will also feature a “Taste of Oxford County” with more than a dozen area restaurants showcasing their specialties/offerings from noon to 2 p.m.
Drug drop-off
BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Police Department has partnered with the MDEA and the Bridgton Community Center on “Got Drugs” prescription drug drop off, to take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Bridgton Community Center. Outdated or unused prescriptions can be disposed of in a safe and effective way, no questions asked.

Dance day
NORWAY — As part of Community Dance Day, Art Moves Dance Studio will host a free dance class from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. The studio is located on the third floor at 13 Cottage St.

Fire Relief craft fair
OXFORD — The Oxford Fire Relief Organization will host their ninth annual craft fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Oxford Public Safety Building on Route 26. Free admission. More than 30 spaces have been reserved. The Fire Relief will be selling homemade chowders, stews, beans, hot dogs and baked goods to raise money for the organization.
Chicken pie supper
PARIS — The VFW Auxiliary will hold a chicken pie supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the VFW Hall.
The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for 12 and under.
Donkey basketball
PARIS — The Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Project Graduation Donkey Basketball fundraiser will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, in the high school gym, Route 26 in South Paris. In the first round, police officers will take on rescue workers followed by school district secretaries taking on male faculty. The winner of those two games will battle for the 2011 donkey basketball championship title in the final game.
There will be a small Chinese auction and a 50/50 draw during the games. Raffle tickets for the firewood raffle will also be on sale. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Tickets are $6 in advance and $7 at the door and can be bought at Books N Things in Norway, Polly’s Variety in Oxford, Hill Top Pools in West Paris and from Project Graduation committee members.
All funds raised at this event are for the 2012 Project Graduation party.
Halloween bash
PARIS — The Paris Public Library will host its fourth annual children’s Halloween Bash open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Participants are invited to come in costume and play ghostly games, make creepy crafts and enjoy spooky snacks.

Hunters breakfast
PARIS — A hunters breakfast will be held from 5 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at West Paris Historical Society, 221 Main St. The raffle drawing of a black powder rifle will be held after 8:30 a.m.
Menu items include eggs, home fries, omelets, bacon, sausage, toast and coffee. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 11.

Harvest potluck
WATERFORD — Waterford Congregational Church will host its annual Harvest Potluck Supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Wilkins House beside the church on Plummer Hill Road in Water Flat. The event, a fundraiser for Heifer International, is open to the public. Costumes are optional.
Everyone, adult or child, is invited to enter a decorated pumpkin in the pumpkin contest. Participants can carve, paint or do a Martha Stewart craft on a pumpkin. Attendees will vote for their favorites by putting change in a container in front of each pumpkin. The pumpkin that collects the most money will be the winner, and its decorator will have a picture taken for the newspaper.
Bring a dish to share for the supper. Rolls, cider and coffee will be provided.
Rabies clinic
WEST PARIS — The West Paris Grange will host a rabies clinic from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 29, at the West Paris Grange Hall on Church Street.
Dr. Nancy Robichaud of the Norway Veterinary Hospital will give rabies inoculations to dogs and cats. The cost will be $10 per animal.
Breakfast for hunters
OXFORD — A hunters’ breakfast sponsored by the Lake Thompson Fish and Game Association will be held from 4:30 to 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the clubhouse on Paine Road.
The menu includes bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, home fries, baked beans, toast, orange juice and coffee. There is a required donation of $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Free pancakes
NORWAY — A free pancake breakfast will be held from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at Second Congregational Church at the corner of Paris and Main streets. While the breakfast is free, there will be UNICEF boxes for those who would like to make a donation.
Trick or Treat for UNICEF begin in 1950 when Rev. Clyde Allison and his wife Mary Emma wanted a way to make Halloween more meaningful for children by collecting a ‘treat’ for themselves as well as one for children in other countries. More than 61 years later, they have raised more than $160 million as one of UNICEF’s most recognizable campaigns.

PARIS — Rev. Richard Trudeau will be the worship leader at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris. Trudeau is the founder of the New Massachusetts Universalist Convention and author of the recently published book, “Universalism 101.” Forest Perkins will lead the music.
