Fright Fest

AUBURN — The Auburn Recreation Department will hold a Fright Fest for students pre-K to sixth grade from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Hasty Community Center, Pettengill Park.

Activities include games and prizes, a guessing jar, face painting and a costume parade.

Honor Guards sought

LEWISTON — The L & A Veterans Council wants to invite all Color/Honor Guards to participate at the Musical Tribute to Veterans on Friday, Nov. 11 at the Lewiston Armory on College Street.

The event will start at 10 a.m. and is free of charge to everyone. For information or to register, contact event chairman Willie Danforth at 777-4759.

The Veterans Council also will have a program at 1:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on the corner of Main and Lincoln streets to unveil the 22nd stone with 216 names of veterans or military members. There will also be a dedication of the new monument, a Military Jeep. Cribbage results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Oct. 20 were, first place: Edith Chambers and Roger Labbe; second place: Roger Patry and Val Asselin; third place: Bob Leclair and Bryan Lambert; fourth place: Mickie Farnum and Gerry Therrein; fifth place: Muriel Webber and Lorraine Fillion.

The next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.

VFW holiday fair

LISBON — The Lisbon VFW & Auxiliary will hold a holiday fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the post home, 52 Lisbon Road. There will be food and beverages available from the kitchen throughout the day.

Crafters, bakers and others may rent a table for $10 by calling the post Wednesday through Friday after noon at 353-5291. Cut off date for reserving a space is Wednesday, Nov. 16. Set up for participants will be at 8 a.m.

Proceeds from the rental of tables and food will be used to support VFW and Auxiliary veterans’ programs including packages sent to troops.

Babysitting course

LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will hold an American Red Cross babysitting plus course from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11.

The goal of the course is to give students the proper skills to care for any child safely. The YWCA babysitter training plus course will teach professionalism and help develop skills in leadership, basic care, first aid skills, home indoor and outdoor safety and certification in child and infant CPR.

Cost is $75 for members and $90 for nonmembers and is open to boys and girls ages 11-15. Space is limited. For more information or to register, call 795-4050.
