LIVERMORE FALLS – A Jay driver was charged with drunken-driving after his truck struck a 12-year-old bicyclist in the crosswalk on Pleasant Street on Friday night, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.
Barry Spencer, 47, of Jay, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of operating under the influence, Steward said.
The boy, from Fayette, received minor injuries in the 9:52 p.m. collision at the intersection of Depot Street, he said. The bike was under the truck when police arrived, he said, and the boy complained of hand pain. He was checked by NorthStar Emergency Medical Services personnel but not taken to a hospital, Steward said.
Spencer was taken to Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn. He posted $300 cash bail and was released over the weekend. He is scheduled to appear Dec. 14 at Lewiston District Court.
Officers John Furr and Robert Samson investigated the accident.
