- Jerome Smith Sr. of Lewiston waits for a tow truck to pull the moving van containing his belongings after it veered off Pinewoods Road in Lewiston on Tuesday. Smith’s friend, Carey Mathis of Lewiston, said he was driving the moving truck past Apple Valley Golf Course when he had to swerve to avoid another vehicle coming at him in the wrong lane. Mathis drove onto a neighbor’s lawn, taking down shrubs and trees before over-correcting and crossing the left side of the road. He then went down an embankment, through trees and across a field before plowing into a stand of trees. Mathis and his passenger escaped without injuries.
