RANGELEY — The Rangeley Fitness Center located at The Rangeley Region Health and Wellness Pavilion has announced that there has been a rise in the presence of youths at the facility. With more than 10 programs offered throughout the year, the facility is averaging around 92 student contacts per week.
Currently the fitness center is offering athletic development and teen strength and conditioning classes two days a week, an after-school program (Rangeley’s Children In Action “CIA”) five days a week and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu one day a week. The RLRS personal fitness class has developed a fitness plan with fitness director and personal trainer Jeff Hawksley, where they use the facility approximately three days a week.
The Fitness Center also provides the space for multiple Lakeside Dance Academy classes and soccer practices/skill trainings. The Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust outdoor education summer camp Ecoventure, which runs four days a week for seven weeks, has also become a part of the facility by including a fitness and nutrition aspect to the program.
The Fitness Center has created a goal to provide fitness education and training sessions for today’s youth in order to develop healthy lifestyles at an early age. These classes and training sessions are offered at very low costs, and even free. Since education is so valued, they have even created a discounted three-month youth membership of $35 for students currently on the RLRS honor roll.
Parents and guardians are the role models for these children. The Fitness Center has created a half-price day pass of $5 to allow parents and guardians the opportunity to workout while their children are participating in one of the youth programs.
