LISBON — The Philip W. Sugg Middle School Junior Volunteer program is in full swing with a calendar of events and community service activities. The junior volunteer program is offered to students grades 5-8 and follows the guidelines adopted from the adult program for community and school activities.
A new volunteer training class for middle school students is scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 31. The next Junior Volunteer Meeting will be at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1. For more information, contact Monica Millhime at 754-0021 or email mmillhime@lisbonschoolsme.org.
Students in high school who have been trained in the program are invited to join the Interact Club, sponsored by the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club.
Meetings are held monthly at PWS and new members are always welcome. The volunteer force is currently supporting the collection of spare change for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society; a disposable diaper collection for a mission in Haiti with the high school Interact Club and plans are in the works to support future efforts for Muscular Dystrophy and Lisbon LACO Food and Clothing Bank and their annual community project of a holiday visit to the Lamp Alzheimer’s Facility in Lisbon.
