BANGOR, Maine (AP) — More than 100 people have turned for an Occupy Bangor rally at a downtown park.

The Bangor Daily News says Saturday’s event featured speeches from union officials, members of the Peace and Justice Center of Downeast Maine and others who spoke about how they’ve been affected by the struggling economy and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Occupy Bangor, which is affiliated with the Occupy Wall Street movement that began last month, was formed to protest what members call corporate greed and the gap between rich and poor.

In Portland, the OccupyMaine group was also holding a downtown rally Saturday featuring speakers, music and what was billed as a “corporate zombie” march.
