NORWAY — The people of Christ Episcopal Church welcomed Maine’s ninth bishop, the Rt. Rev. Stephen Lane, and his wife, Gretchen, on Sept. 11. Lane preached at the 10 a.m. service and together with the rector, the Rev. Anne Stanley, baptized three young people.
The service also observed the 10th anniversary of 9/11. As he remembered that day and looked ahead to the continuing life of the nation, Lane spoke to the congregation about human vulnerability.
After the service, Lane met with parishioners and visitors for questions and swapping stories. “It’s always a treat to welcome Bishop Steve,” said Stanley, “and we had the extra bonus of Gretchen taking a break from the cathedral choir in Portland to sing on this day with ours.”
