PARIS — Fred Henderson of Greenwood, Steve Merrill of Norway and Chuck Williams of Minot have joined the Western Maine Economic Development Council (WMEDC) Policy board of directors.

WMEDC was founded Nov. 13, 2007, as a department of Community Concepts Inc. to facilitate regional economic development throughout Oxford County and bordering towns.

Henderson is a retired businessman and a former co-owner of Ken & Fred’s Carpets, which was located in Norway. He has been a resident of Greenwood since 1988 and has served on the board of selectmen for the past 10 years. He was a volunteer with the Otisfield Fire Department for 20 years and served as chief for five years. Henderson represents the Oxford County Budget Committee on the WMEDC board.

Merrill has been in the building supplies and modular housing industries for 38 years, having served as assistant general manager with Swan Supply for 26 years and in sales with Maine Home Crafters and KBS. He was a member of the Norway Planning Board and the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce Board, and he is chairman of the Oxford County Republic Party. Merrill represents the Oxford County Commissioners on the WMEDC board.

Williams is vice president of finance and accounting with Norway Savings Bank in the bank’s headquarters in Norway. He has been with Norway Savings Bank for six years and is responsible for accounting and financial transactions, maintaining oversight of the accounts payable functions and assisting with subsidiary and real estate management accounting. Williams grew up in Buckfield and is a graduate of Thomas College.

WMEDC’s mission is to create economic opportunity and improve the quality of life in Western Central Maine.
