Alexi Deering was named the October Student of the Month at Spruce Mountain High School North campus in Jay. Deering, a senior, was honored for contributing to the school community as a member of the soccer, basketball and softball teams, serving as captain during her senior seasons; serving as a class officer all four years, including president this year; as a member of the math team, Explorer Post, Leo Club, the state championship-winning Envirothon team; and as a member of the National Honor Society, in which she currently serves as chapter vice-president. Deering has also contributed to the greater good of the larger Jay community by volunteering for various organizations, including Jay Active Youth.
