STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Sadie Jo Roy (McDaniel), 49, of Stephenville, Texas, formerly of Fayette, wife of Scott Roy, went to her Heavenly home Friday, Nov. 4.
Sadie was born March 15, 1962, in Fayette, the sixth of eight children to George and Wilda McDaniel. Sadie worked with the Child Evangelists Fellowship spreading the word of God at the state fairs across Maine 1978 to 1979.
In 1980, she graduated from Livermore Falls High School and she joined the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman serving until 1989. While in the Navy, she met and married Scott Roy in Beaufort, S.C. in 1982. She gave birth to her daughter, Carly, in 1986, while stationed in Keflavik, Iceland. Sadie received her bachelor’s degree in Health Care management from Southern Illinois University in 1991, and a master’s degree in counseling and psychology from Tarleton State University in 2006.
She was a case manager at Workforce Solutions in Stephenville. Sadie loved to help others. She spent her life in service to her country, family, friends and the Lord. She was an avid baseball fan and loved her dogs, cats, chickens, cows and donkeys.
Sadie is survived by her husband, Scott; her daughter, Carly Cleveland; son-in-law, Matthew Cleveland, a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force; her mother, Wilda (Merrow) McDaniel; her mother and father-in-law, Gene and LuAnn Roy; her siblings, Sharon Snyder, Doris Mitchell, Cindy Lee, Tracy Wiles, Keith McDaniel, Lisa Odom and Vern McDaniel; four nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, George Edwin McDaniel.
