AUBURN — Nellie Bachelder Pinkham , 88, of Strong and Avon, died Nov. 11, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born Dec. 15, 1922, in Langtown, the daughter of Victor and Mae Nile Bachelder. She was educated in the schools of Langtown, Stratton and Strong, graduating from Strong High School, Class of 1941. She married Charles Pinkham in Strong Jan. 9, 1942; he died May 25, 1974.

Nellie worked for Forster Mfg. Co. in Strong for 25 years and later she and her husband owned and operated Pinkham Nursing Home in Strong, where she retired in 1985. She moved from Strong to Phillips/Avon in 1982. She was a member of the Strong and Phillips Historical Societies, Phillips Red Hats and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by one son, Philip, and wife, Marcy Pinkham, of Avon; two daughters, Muriel and husband, Paul Lisherness, of Strong, Evelyne and husband, John Crosson, of North Jay; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Pinkham of Manchester; one sister, Mabelle Libby of Florida; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, Stillman Johnson; sons, Charles and Fred Pinkham; stepbrother, Milford Williamson; stepsister, Gladys Bamford; and two half sisters, Ila Clark and Stella Huff.
