LIVERMORE FALLS — The Maine Department of Transportation will be installing a sign on Route 133 near the intersection of Hyde Road to alert people to turning school bus.

RSU 73 Superintendent Bob Wall said he had spoken to DOT traffic engineer Gene Uhuad to discuss the intersection that some have deemed dangerous.

Currently buses, student drivers and staff members are using Hyde Road to bypass Route 4 construction.

That construction is expected to be done for the year on Nov. 15 and is expected to re-start in spring 2012.

The Hyde Road/Route 133 intersection has a blind area due to a bend on Route 133 section just before Hyde Road heading south.

There have been several accidents in the past, Wall said, and a serious one a couple of weeks ago unrelated to school.

Wall said that he hopes the traffic situation will be better once Main Street is not under construction for the winter.

Jay police are also making a point to show a presence in the area to slow traffic, Wall said.

In other business, the board was updated on the facilities committee work. There is a meeting at 5:15 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Cedar Street Learning Complex in Livermore Falls.

Committee members will receive cost estimates of a variety of options regarding Spruce Mountain High School’s two campuses, and discuss what the next step in consolidation will be.
