DIXFIELD — A man was injured Friday morning after his clothing became entangled in springs on an overhead garage door, officials said.

The incident happened at Belskis Garage on Canton Point Road shortly before 11 a.m.

Chris Moretto, assistant chief of the Dixfield Fire Co., said the initial report was of a man suspended from a garage door. When he arrived, he said, men working at the garage were on ladders surrounding the man and cutting his clothing from the door springs.

Garage owner Scott Belskis said the workers used a razor knife to cut his clothes. He said the victim didn’t want to be identified.

“Once he was free from the springs he walked himself out to the ambulance,” Moretto said. “He was transported to Rumford Hospital to be evaluated” with a possible hand injury.

Belskis said he believed the injury was due to a wrench the man was holding during the incident.

“It really wasn’t that big of a deal,” Belskis said.
