NEWRY —In an effort to raise money for Bethel Rotary Club’s Annual Holiday Toy Drive Sunday River Resort will put 250 skiers and snowboard riders in Santa suits on the slopes again.
It’s the 12th year the resort has hosted this event and the pre-registration for the event took just eight minutes, according to resort spokeswoman Darcy Morse.
Those participating must arrive at the event Sunday, Dec. 4, wearing all of the following items: one red Santa hat including a white pompom, one red Santa jacket, one pair of red Santa pants and a Santa beard.
The 250 lucky Santas who signed up will also donate $10 to the toy drive and in return they recieve a lift ticket for the day on Saturday and another to use any time prior to Friday, Dec. 16, 2011.
“This is a hugely popular event,” Dana Bullen, Resort President for Sunday River, said. “It’s visually stunning to watch all those Santas skiing and snowboarding down the mountain and it puts everyone in the holiday spirit.”
Santa Sunday participants check in between 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. at the South Ridge Base Lodge and then participate in an 11 a.m. photo shoot.
