LIVERMORE FALLS — The lost children are practicing their moves. Technical theater class techies are checking details.
Actors and actresses are rehearsing their lines and honing their singing skills. Captain Hook and Smee are ready to go.
Everyone involved in Spruce Mountain Community Musical Theatre is busy preparing for their first play, “Peter Pan.” The three-act play will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3, on the stage of the Livermore Falls Middle School. Admission is $5.
The play has all the traditional characters but there are twists, Manager Christine LaFleur said. Tinker Bell is a tom boy, the “Lost Boys” are lost children. There are 18 of them instead of six, Director Anne Weatherbee said.
About 70 people in all, from young children to older adults, have some part in the production either performing, behind the scene or other aspects.
Weatherbee, the former director of the Livermore Falls High School Community Theatre, said the new place to perform will add to the play and the audience’s enjoyment.
The plays used to be performed at the Livermore Falls High School stage, now known as Spruce Mountain High School South Campus.
“Being in this space is awesome,” Weatherbee said. “It is two times the size of the other stage.”
The audience will be able to see and hear better due to the acoustics in the middle school.
The school’s academic wing has been closed but the gym and stage area are still being used.
