AUBURN —  Police are investigating a “spree of motor vehicle burglaries,” according to a release issued Auburn Deputy Police Chief Jason Moen Monday.

Over the last two weeks numerous unlocked vehicles in neighborhoods around the city have been entered during the overnight hours and personal property has been stolen, the release stated.

Moen said the department wanted to remind the public that these types of crimes are completely preventable by simply remembering to lock your car doors and store valuables out of sight.

The release stated that those committing the burglaries were targeting unlocked vehicles and stealing everything from loose change to laptop computers and GPS units.

“Other than locking their car doors, the public can help by keeping an eye out for suspicious person(s) in their neighborhoods during the overnight hours and alerting the police,” the release stated.

For non-emergencies the Auburn Police can be reached by phone at 333-6650.
