JAY — Four teenage boys from Livermore and Livermore Falls face criminal mischief charges in connection to paintballs shot at residences.
Police received a report of someone shooting paintballs at residences on Elm Street on Saturday, police Chief Larry White Sr. said.
There had been 11 complaints of paintball damage between Jay and Livermore Falls since Dec. 4, White said.
Officers Mike Mejia and Nicholas Gulliver were patrolling in the area and checked side streets and Franklin Road looking for a vehicle.
They stopped a white Volkswagen Golf and spoke to a juvenile inside, White said.
Police interviewed both boys in the car and discovered they had paintballs but no gun, he said.
They did admit to having a slingshot, he said.
The boys, one 16 years old from Livermore and the other 17 years old from Livermore Falls, denied involvement in all of the complaints, White said.
During an investigation it was learned that there were two others involved and they were in competition, he said.
Mejia continued work on the investigation and interviewed two more 16-year-old boys from Livermore Falls.
One was not forthcoming, but the other told police that they didn’t shoot any houses just signs, White said.
After more investigation, Mejia charged the second set of juveniles.
Each of the four boys was issued a summons on a charge of criminal mischief, White said.
“This was really outstanding work on both officers’ parts,” White said.
